Location: Grizedale Centre, Grizedale Forest, Nr. Hawkshead, Lake District
Cost: £95 pp including materials. Limited to four places.

In this small group workshop you will learn how to create beautiful, simple to make, fold & glue bound books.

In this workshop Joseph will cover two styles of book construction. The first mimics a traditional book with a solid spine, the second is a drumleaf construction which allows the book to expand. During the workshop you’ll make your own books, based on images which you will bring already printed. We’ll use readily available tools, materials and simple technique, so you can repeat the process at home. A full set of workshop joining notes will be provided in advance.

Location: NW London – Eddie’s home studio
Cost: £135 including all materials, lunch and refreshments

Limited to six places

In this small group workshop you will learn how to create two types of beautiful, simple to make, stitch bound/sewn, inkjet printed books.

The easiest to make is a 3-hole sewn book, comprising a single section of several folded and gathered printed sheets, bound with a single thread. The other method We will cover is the even more decorative, Japanese side-sewn/stab-sewn process (similar to Joseph’s The Floods photobook). For both types of book you will learn how best to print back-to-back single and folded pages. All the other stages of the process will also be covered, from concept to print, including picture editing/sequencing and sewing, with plenty of time for discussion.

Of particular benefit is the opportunity to discuss and pick up tips on picture sequencing in relation to the narrative content of your stitch/sewn book.

During the workshop you’ll make your own books, based on your images, using readily available tools, materials and simple technique, so you can repeat the process at home. We’ll print on Fotospeed Matt Duo, and HWS Lite Duo 100% cotton rag paper.
